Sisters, Polly van Niekerk (74) and Jennifer Strong (77) from Walmer are no strangers to cancer which took a younger brother, a dear friend, and a four-legged family member.
Wanting to do something meaningful, both sisters decided to cut off a generous section of their exceptionally long hair grown over many decades, donating it to CANSA, while turning the day into a fundraising occasion by opening their home to friends and neighbours. Stylist Louise Ilsley did the honours, and the results were handed over to CANSA.
Polly and Jennifer’s special gift will give a cancer patient the dignity of a wig during hair loss while undergoing treatment, and the money will bolster our many other services. We thank them for their kindness.
