Sharing more words of thanks and gratitude with you

A letter from Leonore Schuller

“In May last year, during UWC Wellness Day, a routine check up detected a lump that led to a cancer diagnosis.  What followed was one of the most difficult periods I’ve ever faced in my life.

“Thanks to CANSA’s Nurse Martheza, I was swiftly referred to Groote Schuur Hospital Breast Clinic for further evaluation and treatment.

“Beyond the referral, CANSA has been a beacon of hope and strength for me, and I’m sure for countless others facing similar challenges.  It’s not only the services you provide but the culture of support and solidarity that’s crucial for those navigating the complexities of cancer.

“As I continue my journey towards recovery, I’m motivated by the support I’ve received from CANSA, and inspired by the commitment of those who make a difference in the lives of cancer patients.

“Your dedication gives hope to individuals like me, reminding us that we’re not alone in our fight against cancer.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart – I’m deeply appreciative and forever grateful.’”

From Babalwa Duda

“I first spoke to you in March 2024 about my breast cancer, and you referred me to Prof. Carol Benn at Milpark Hospital, who then referred me to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital.  In April, I finally started chemotherapy treatment.

“It was the lady, Nandipha, who answered the phone when I first called CANSA who assured me that you would definitely assist.  And you really did assist.

“I was hopeless and in severe pain, I didn’t know what to do.  But you listened, and assured me that everything is going to be okay.

“I don’t have words, but all I can say is thank you very much for everything.  I really appreciate it.”

From Mike Furcey

“Whilst living in Empangeni, I’m forever grateful to Mkhuhla House in Durban where I stayed for nine weeks whilst receiving radiation treatment.

Thank you.”
