Survival in song

Cancer survivor and long-time CANSA Relay For Life supporter and Global Hero of Hope, Magda Jacobs, has been recognised on a national stage for turning her cancer story into music.

Her winning song (Cancer Warrior) began as a published poem she wrote. And in July 2025, Magda gave the piece new life by turning it into a song which won the South African Country Music Association/Foundation Original Afrikaans Gospel Female award for Inspirational Song.
